11 games and fun activities for a virtual Thanksgiving

With the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention warning of the risks of Thanksgiving travel, many families are opting for a virtual Thanksgiving this year. Zoom, the go-to videoconferencing system for many during the pandemic, has even announced it’s waiving its usual 40-minute meeting limit on free accounts during the holiday so families can stay connected.

And while you may not be able to pass the turkey and stuffing through your webcam, there are still some ways you can make the holiday feel fun, special, and less like a carb-laden conference call. Here are a few ideas for games and other activities

Sackboy: A Big Adventure review: Whimsical platformer is gentle by-the-numbers fun – JC Suttun

The arrival of the PlayStation 5 brings with it the return of beloved PlayStation mascot Sackboy for a new, big adventure, unsurprisingly titled Sackboy: A Big Adventure.

This latest entry in the LittleBigPlanet franchise tweaks the format slightly, going from 3D graphics on a mostly 2D plane to a fully 3D platforming experience.

A Big Adventure sees our fabric-based hero embark on an epic quest to save his fellow Sackfolk and their planet Craftworld from the villain Vex and his plot to use a machine called the Topsy Turver to harness the nightmare energy of the Uproar. So far, so 80s Saturday morning cartoon.

Sackboy returns to save Craftworld

The Uproar can only be dispelled by Dreamer Orbs, which you are tasked with collecting from an array of different lands. Aiding you on your quest is Scarlet, your mysterious advisor who also educates you on the legend of the Knitted

New Photos From Ryan Reynolds’ Delayed Free Guy Tease A Fun Adventure

Ryan Reynolds was so confident that his action comedy Free Guy would arrive in theaters before the end of 2020 that he even went to the lengths of creating a promo spot designed entirely to make fun of the uncertainty surrounding this year’s release schedule. In a cruel twist of fate, however, less than five weeks later, Shawn Levy’s film was pulled from the calendar and delayed indefinitely.

On one hand, it marks another major setback for an industry still desperately struggling for revenue, but you can also completely understand why Disney don’t want to release one of their newly acquired properties into such a barren marketplace. Official figures haven’t been announced, but based on the massive scale and reliance on visual effects that’s been all over the trailers, Free Guy looks as though it could have easily cost at least $150 million to produce.

With a huge budget, an

Election overload? Fun ways to escape politics at home | Tech Talk & Innovation

(BPT) – The election season is a lot to handle no matter where you land on the political spectrum. It can be draining on many levels, which is why now is the perfect time to escape the political drama and make up your own political fun at home.

Idea 1: Embrace the household monarchy

Forget democratic decisions at home! Do your kids and roommates really deserve an equal vote anyway? Have fun and announce the start of the household monarchy, in which you will rule as king or queen.

For example, wondering what to have for dinner? No need to argue, your decision is what counts. Will it be pizza, spaghetti or that new recipe? Disagreements on music are instantly cast aside when the king and queen decide. Will ears delight to country, pop or alternative? From what movie to watch to who is stuck folding the socks, the monarchy

5 Fun Apple Arcade Games to Entertain and De-Stress

There’s a reason that Apple Arcade is available in all three Apple One subscription tiers. Games are fun and a great way to entertain and de-stress. Here are five Arcade games to check out.

I just started playing this one last night and I might write a review of it later. The app’s description only offer tantalizing clues of what the game is about. “The Last Campfire is an adventure, a story of a lost ember trapped in a puzzling place, searching for meaning and a way home” and “Find hope and carry it with you on your journey to light The Last Campfire.” So far I’m enjoying it.

15 Fun, Mindless Things To Do If You Have To Wait In Line To Vote

For most of us, the experience of voting in person in the general election ― whether it’s the day of, early, or dropping off your mail-in ballot ― will be as hum-drum and uneventful as usual: You go in, do your thing and move along.

But in some places, including New York and Georgia, early voting has been marked by hours-long waits. Given that you may have to stand in line before getting into your polling place, some voting experts have recommended bringing a snack ― and maybe even a lawn chair to chill.

How can you keep your brain busy if you have to wait? Below, we round up 15 fun, mindless things to do on your phone while queuing up for your civic duty. (If you want to stare at the back of someone’s head, a la Puddy on a plane from “Seinfeld,” hey, it’s a free country.)

During the pandemic, we feel children’s wellbeing has been put at the bottom of the priority list. That’s why we don’t want children to miss out on the joyous occasion of Halloween. We know parents won’t want to go knocking on doors at this time, so we thought, why not do it virtually? Better still, why don’t we add some of that Captain Fantastic flair to make it a full theatrical experience?

Captain Fantastic launched online pretty quickly during the first lockdown, and our

Get fit at home: Oregon PE teacher’s 10 fun tricks to shape up

People have gained weight during the pandemic. The Yale School of Medicine points to increased stress, comfort eating, upended routines and, during the first months of stay-at-home orders, gyms and parks were closed, forcing some to find a different form of exercise. Or they just stopped walking, jogging and working out.

Doctors are hearing from patients who have gained five, 10 and even 30 pounds, according to Yale Medicine. They suggest people step on a scale at least once a week to calculate their height/weight ratio, or body mass index (BMI), and know where they land on the weight spectrum.

Then make a plan to stay fit or get fit.

Cheryl Wardell, a PE instructor in the Beaverton School District for 32 years, says you can work out while having fun. She jumps into a “dance party of one” when she’s a home.

A group tour’s like being in an orgy, but without the fun bits

Kathy Lette and Ronni Ancona discover a new zest for life on a group walking tour of the Amalfi Coast

What do women want? Besides being whisked off to a tropical isle where Chris Hemsworth licks caviar from your navel beneath a palm, I’d say most want to laugh with girlfriends and lose weight. So why not combine the two? I’m talking about a walking holiday. Talking while walking means guilt-free gourmandising – what’s not to love?

One of the most popular treks in the world is the “Walk of the Gods” atop the Amalfi coast. Not knowing any gods personally, I opted to take a comedy goddess. Ronni Ancona and I have been friends for 25 years, buoying each other up in a friendly fug of banter and bonhomie. We tend to lob quips back and forth as though at a verbal Wimbledon.

During lockdown, we Zoomed so
