What Molly Sims Eats In A Day On Her Intermittent Fasting Diet

Throughout her modeling career, Molly Sims, 47, has tried just about every diet plan out there. After having children, the quick tricks didn’t cut it anymore, so the supermodel, actress, and mom switched up her mindset and strategy and set her sights on balance (with a side of strength training).

“It’s more about living healthy and how you’re feeling,” she tells Women’s Health. “I truly, truly don’t like the word ‘diet.’ I don’t even like the scale. I use a pair of jeans; the jeans don’t lie I can tell you that.”

In addition to her circuit training, HIIT, and other workouts (which you’ll find in her Workout Wednesday posts on her Instagram), Molly also relies on intermittent fasting to feel her best. She also opts for plenty of protein and veggies. “A lot more vegetables,” she says. “I’m still eating egg whites for protein, but not as much meat, though I have to be careful.” Sims says she cut out meat for eight months last year and ended up getting mercury poisoning from eating so much fish. Live and learn, right?

Now Molly knows what truly works for her lifestyle and body. Here’s what she eats in a typical day.

Breakfast

On her intermittent fasting plan, Molly waits until noon to eat her breakfast, which is usually a smoothie. Her fave recipe is blueberries, almond milk, Vital Proteins protein, and greens.

Alongside her smoothie, she sips coffee with So Delicious Coconut Creamer.

When she wants to mix it up, though, Molly opts for egg whites with spinach and tomatoes, and a slice of gluten-free toast. (She like’s Udi’s.)

One rule she always sticks to during her first meal of the day: avoiding sugar overload. “I tend to stay away from anything super sugary, like orange juice grapefruit juice, because it really spikes me,” she says.

Lunch

Since she eats her breakfast when most people eat lunch, Molly pushes her second meal of the day back to 2:30 p.m. or so. Usually, it’s a small meal of vegetables and some kind of protein.

“I’ll do either a salmon salad with butter lettuce or mesclun greens and black olives plus, sweet potatoes for heartiness and roasted almonds for crunch,” she tells WH. “I love a hearty salad.”

To flavor her salads, Molly makes her own dressing from an old favorite Barefoot Contessa recipe. “I do a mustard dressing with Dijon mustard, white wine vinegar, oil, and salt and pepper to taste,” she says. “It’s delicious.”

What you won’t find on Molly’s salad: dried fruit. “I try to stay away from dried fruits; it’s ultimately full of sugar,” she explains.

When she isn’t feeling a salad, she goes for cooked greens in a bowl. She likes “a mixture of Kajaki seaweed, steamed garlic greens, or sautéed greens with a soft sweet potato.”

Snacks

In case she gets hungry, Molly keeps her well-organized pantry stocked with crunchy, gluten-free crunchy options. “I try to cut out as much gluten as I can,” she explains. “It’s not that I’m celiac; I just feel better when I have less of it.” Some of her faves: Milton’s Gluten-Free Crackers, Blue Diamond Nut Thins, and Siete Grain-Free Tortilla Chips. “I like a crunch,” she says. Usually, she pairs her crunchy eats with a little bit of hummus.

That’s not all Molly keeps on-hand when the mood strikes, though. “I love almond butter on a rice cake, turkey with hummus, and low-fat cottage cheese.” Another occasional go-to: Greek yogurt with blueberries.

Dinner

Molly and her fam eat dinner (which is always fun and flavorful) early, around 5:30 or 6 p.m.

“We have Taco Tuesday, and I’ll do a corn tortilla with ground turkey, salmon, or grilled chicken and some salsa,” she says. Another fave: A bowl piled with cauliflower rice, broccoli, sweet potatoes, chicken, and a syrupy balsamic sauce.

Molly is also very proud of a salmon dish she make for her family on the reg: She smothers salmon in a marinade of salt, pepper, Dijon mustard, and honey with lemon slices, and then bakes it over a bed of thyme sprigs. “It is insane,” she says. Molly serves it with broccoli, cauliflower rice, spinach, or blanched snow peas.

When the kids are in the mood for pizza, Molly gets ’em a regular pie and opts for Capello’s gluten-free or a cauliflower pizza crust for herself.

“I will normally not eat much past 6:30 or 7 p.m. because I find that it’s easier to lose weight, especially if I’m doing an intermittent fasting.”

Dessert

Though Molly tries not to eat after 7 p.m., she loves to treat herself to salty dark chocolate after dinner. “It’s a balance, honestly,” she says

Molly is also a fan of Capello’s gluten-free chocolate chip cookie dough and homemade sweets. “We make banana bread, cookies, and killer Pamela’s gluten-free brownies,” she rattles off.

Drinks

Most of Molly’s drinks throughout the day are all about hydration. She likes grapefruit- or lime-flavored La Croix sparkling water, San Pellegrino, Tejava sparkling ice tea, and good ol’ fashioned ice water in a mason jar with a straw.

As is crystal-clear on her Instagram, Molly also loves wine. Her go-to varietals are rosé and pinot grigio. “I do drink alcohol,” she says. “I also love a paloma with grapefruit juice, soda, lime, and tequila.” Cheers to that!
