This is the first book Keats has authored, alongside his co-author, Stephen Jeffrey. The book was written with the aim in mind to introduce children to complex personal finance concepts from an early age without boring them. The book contains underlying metaphors relating to personal finance, and the authors plan to expand the work into an entire series covering different personal finance topics. There’s also particular excitement about this launch because it’s a children’s book written by a fintech company! It’s set to unveil the world behind the brand.

Seeking Azoras sets its main focus on a young boy looking to borrow gold at the goblin market, in order to save his parents’ farm. After a dispute with a goblin merchant, he finds himself on the run with the book’s female hero. Together, the pair journey to find the mythical world of Azoras. Readers will likely find particular interest in the underlying metaphor relating to the complexity of getting a mortgage as a first-time-buyer. Being the founder of the Free Online Mortgage Broker, Azoras, Hamilton wanted to create children’s stories that teach important points related to personal finance. The book’s cover art was created by James Henderson and Seeking Azoras is being released via Kindle Direct Publishing.

Hamilton Keats has a background as a successful entrepreneur. This helped shape the creation of the book in that his most recent venture is a Free Online Mortgage Broker called Azoras.co.uk. He wanted to highlight the complexity of mortgage terms for first-time-buyers and decided it would be entertaining to write a fantasy book that highlights the struggle first-time-buyers can face when finding the right mortgage for them.

When asked about why they wrote the book, Keats said: “I wanted to challenge the misconception that personal finance needs to be complex. But what really drove me is the opportunity to create more content for my YouTube channel and show people that there’s power in action. I set myself the challenge to write and publish the book in one week. And we did that, all whilst making a video about it too.”

Keats has hopes that the book will inspire parents to raise their children to be more financially aware. This positive outlook from Keats is certainly a testament to his optimism, considering some of the difficulties in the book’s creation. The biggest challenge was illustrating the book in such a short space of time. “Everything was last minute and our designer had several major projects on. It was incredibly time-consuming for him. And at one point, we just weren’t happy with the quality of illustrations he could deliver given the time constraints. We had to scrap two whole days of work and have him start again, making sure we stuck to simple illustrations.”

In a recent interview, Keats made a point of thanking his business partners, Jason and Antony. “They’re unbelievably patient when it comes to letting me try new marketing methods for our company. And I’m sure they found it just a little unusual for me to spend time writing a children’s book.” And for their part in the creation of the book, saying: “I’d like to thank my fellow author, Stephen Jeffrey, and my illustrator James Henderson. It took a team to make this happen in such a short space of time.”
