The best post-lockdown breaks to book now

Lockdown is set to end on December 2, with the three-tier system reinstated with additional restrictions. For many, this means the blanket ban on travel abroad will be lifted. Previously, travel was allowed in all three tiers but advised against in the highest tier. More details on the return to the tier system, and which areas of England will fall into which tier, are expected this week. For now, find four of the best post-lockdown options for a quarantine-free holiday below.

Dubai

With the recent addition of the UAE to the travel corridor list, Dubai should be back in business come December. Travellers from the UK are asked to arrive with a recent negative PCR test result, with the option of taking a test on arrival. The emirate’s desert glitz makes for quite a contrast after a drab month at home. Amp up the glamour further with a stay at the Jumeirah Zabeel Saray, a vast Ottoman palace-style hotel set on one of the fronds of the Palm Jumeirah. Expect hand-painted frescoes and dramatic chandeliers in the grand public spaces; outside are a 200ft infinity pool and an immaculate private beach. A complimentary upgrade to half-board means you can make the most of restaurants, ranging from an upmarket Lebanese to a take on a pub.
