The gig economy and high speed internet has changed the way we work, especially for women who get more flexibility in terms of work options. The Employment Outlook Report by TeamLease, a recruitment platform, finds that women gig workers accounted for more than 68,000 jobs in the country last year.
India’s GDP could rise by 0.75 if participation of women in the workforce increases by 10 percentage points by 2025, according to The McKinsey Global Institute. With the multitude of opportunities present right now, it is a great time for more Indian women to become financially independent.
Let’s take a look at work-from home jobs for women in India for the digitally-skilled.
Social Media Management:
Every business wants to be on social media because every one of their customers is found on one social channel or the other. Most businesses are happy with outsourcing these tasks to freelancers who are skilled. It requires technical skills where you need to be scrappy with certain tools. What you need is familiarity with social media sites like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, etc.

There is a lot of demand for freelance writers because businesses are looking to get more content written for their website, blogs, etc. Freelancer.in and Upwork are places where women can get work. Hiring of work-from-home professionals is high in this field because businesses want the writer’s expertise without having to hire someone full-time. You should be able to write sentences with correct grammar and structuring. It is even possible to get work as a regional language writer.
Social Media Influencer:
Do you have a unique skill that can educate or hook people into their screens? If yes, then you can become an online influencer. People who have a huge following on social media help brands to reach their audiences. You can be an influencer by posting interesting content on a variety of topics or a specific niche. From being a food influencer to being a popular cover singer, you can be anything. It takes time to gather a following, but if you play your cards right, you can make good money.
Blogging:
If you have an interest in a specific topic, then blogging is the way to go. You can create different types of content to educate and entertain your audience. The number of people who visit and engage with your blog is going to be the leverage you have over businesses that want your help.
