PLAINFIELD, NJ — A dog named Bo captured the hearts of people in his Plainfield hometown and in neighboring communities when he went missing for ten days. Luckily, Bo’s story had a happy ending after he was found with the help of the Plainfield Residents’ Association for Animal Rescue and other volunteers. He was reunited with his family on Tuesday, March 23.
Jennifer Leigh Conlin, an administrator of the “Bring Bo Home” Facebook group, told TAPinto Plainfield she had worked with Bo’s mom, Sheila Jackson, in the Plainfield Public School district. When she found out Bo was missing, she jumped at the chance to help, and created the page. She said while she isn’t involved with any one animal rescue in particular, she makes it a point to help wherever she can.
“In this case I was really happy to connect with PRAAR and All Star Rescue. They’re really doing awesome stuff in the animal rescue world, and I’m looking forward to a continued partnership,” Conlin noted.
Conlin said people are still asking about what else can be done, even though Bo is home. Her answer, in a group post, is to get a Bo T-shirt.
As you know, Bo was lucky enough to conclude his big adventure with a celebratory return to his family, but there are so many dogs picked up in Scotch Plains and Union County that are stuck in shelters with no one looking for them and no one coming to get them.
Local businessman Edward Kobis of Union Tee Company reached out to Leigh, and is offering to make T-shirts at cost. All proceeds will go to the Plainfield Humane Society (PAHS) and All Star Pet Rescue in Linden.
Lilas Borsa of PRAAR said she is pleased to see donations from the shirt sales go to PAHS.
Borsa said Team Bo was a group effort. “We had the wonderful and selfless help from Colleen McDonough and her husband, Chris, Noreen Croteau, and Donna Beach of All Star Pet Rescue of Linden. We also had help from Jennifer Donahue, Jennifer Leigh Conlin, Rebecca Douglas, and Nicole, who spotted Bo and notified us. The greatest help was from the Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA for allowing us to do our thing on their property.”
“The fact that Bo chose to hunker down and remain in Scotch Plains,” Conlin said, “gave so many residents the ability to catch a glimpse of him and really witness first hand just how terrified he was. It definitely pulled at your heartstrings in a way that made us all extremely invested in seeing his safe return.”

Shirt orders can be placed here through April 3, and are tentatively scheduled for distribution on April 11. There are two designs available in six colors, ranging in price from $15 to $18. After placing an order, payment must be made on Venmo @blackbird13, or on Zelle or PayPal at [email protected].
