Wisconsin online, mail-in voter registration deadline arrives; other options available

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) – An important deadline for Wisconsin residents: online and mail-in voter registration ends on Wednesday, October 14.

If someone can’t register online or by mail by the end of the day on the 14th, they have other options. Residents cans register to vote in-person at early voting sites through October 30 and in-person on Election Day at their polling place.

To register online, you must have a state ID or driver’s license. Mail-in registration must be postmarked by October 14. According to the Wisconsin Elections Commission, voter registration numbers are similar to this time four years ago.

With Election Day less than three weeks away, the commission is encouraging everyone to make a voting plan now.

“You’ve got three options, you can vote absentee by mail, you can vote absentee in your clerk’s office starting October 20 and of course, you can always go to the polls on Election Day,” Wisconsin Elections Commission Public Information Officer Reid Magney said. “All three options are safe, however, you need to be making a plan now, especially if you want to vote absentee by mail.”

Information on how to register can be found on the MyVote Wisconsin website and on the Wisconsin Elections Commission website.
