WinterFest comes back to Henderson

WinterFest is happening throughout December in Henderson.

Some activities will be presented virtually, such as the annual tree lighting at 5 p.m. on Dec. 3 and Sights and Sounds of the City, Holiday Edition. Some activities will require registration in advance. Other activities include the Holiday Light Display (Dec. 3-Jan. 5), Pop-up Holiday Entertainment, Cookie Crawl, and Letters to Santa.

Celebrate the magical holidays with a letter from Santa. Stop in and “mail” your child’s letter using our decorative mailbox or mail it to Valley View Recreation Center, 500 Harris St., Henderson, NV 89015, and receive a special letter from Santa and Mrs. Claus. Find out if your child has been naughty or nice. Be sure to include information on your child so Santa can check his list twice! Ages 1-5.

How the Grinch Stole Christmas Story Time & Craft

The Grinch will make a very special appearance and read his biography aloud. Participants will make a Grinch ornament to display on the tree at home. All ages.

Reindeer Dash 5K Run & 1-Mile Walk

Ring in the season with a holiday fun run for the entire family. Don your best holiday apparel and jingle all the way down a 3.1-mile course along Pittman Wash Trail. T-shirts are guaranteed for the first 300 registered participants; 5K participants will receive a finisher’s medal. All fitness levels are welcome. For social distancing purposes, small groups will start at staggered times with the first wave leading off at 9 a.m. New this year is a virtual fun run/walk you can do on your own or with friends or family.
