Will Legoland New York be entirely made of Lego bricks? Check out the amazing creations.

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Legoland New York Resort will have thousands of Lego bricks spread throughout the epic 150-acre theme park when it opens this year.

While you can use your imagination and creativity to build anything with Legos, the theme park won’t entirely be made of the famous bricks.

But Legoland New York will have more than 15,000 Lego models, made of more than 30 million Lego bricks throughout the park — the largest Legoland Park ever developed by Merlin Entertainment. It will also be the first major theme park to open in the northeast in more than four decades.

Sculptures made completely of Legos will be scattered throughout the park, such as the dinosaur sculpture above, or the elephant and monkey duo below. And we can only imagine how long it took to build these structures!

Many building exteriors, rides and other structures are designed to appear to be made of Legos.

Located in Goshen, N.Y., the theme park will be home to seven themed lands and more than 50 rides, shows, and attractions for families with children ages 2 through 12. The resort will be open seasonally — from late spring to early fall, and some educational areas will be open year-round.

Legoland New York will also introduce the world’s first use of on-ride tracking technology to transform riders into Lego Minifigures. The Lego Factory Adventure Ride will identify attributes of guests and map their position in the virtual space to transform riders into the popular Minifigures, like the Minifigure shown in this Lego car sculpture below.

Several attractions will feature sculptures made of Legos, allow you to make your own Lego creations, and learn from a Lego Master Builder.

At the Lego Creative Workshop, you can learn advanced Lego techniques and become a Master Builder. Or if you’ve ever wanted to build a robot that obeys your commands, the Lego Mindstorms area is exactly where that happens.

Swing over to Build & Test, the most incredible place to build anything you can think of and test it to make it better. Make a car and race it, stack a skyscraper and shake it, or send your bricks flying through the skies and swimming through the oceans, according to the theme park.

If you want to be amazed by Lego creations, you can see a whole country all in one day at Miniland. Take in 10 destinations of amazing scenery and city skylines from coast to coast — all built out of Lego bricks. That’s about 22,231,368 Lego bricks, the park says.

And if you want to make it a fun weekend, you can stay at the new Legoland Hotel, also slated to open in 2021. The 250-room hotel is specially designed for families, with imaginative Lego features and themed play areas everywhere you turn — and it’s located just steps away from the theme park.

Hotel guests will be able to enjoy free breakfast daily, kid-friendly entertainment, a heated resort-style pool, and in-room scavenger hunts with Lego prizes every day. Each room will include a separate kid sleeping area, and guests can choose from one of four themes — pirate, kingdom, Lego Friends, or Lego Ninjago.

SAFETY MEASURES

There will be safety and health precautions when the park opens amid the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

That includes temperature checks upon entrance, required face masks or coverings, social distancing, constant sanitization and cleaning by park staff, as well as hand sanitizer locations scattered around the park. The protocols will also include any other safety measures required by local and state health departments.
