YES, THE JOSLYN ART MUSEUM HAS THE EXHIBIT REVISITING AMERICA THE PRINCE CURRIER AND IVES IT CELEBRATES THE LARGEST PRINTMAKING COMPANY IN 19TH CENTURY AMERICA AND JOSELINE IS NOW HOME TO THE COUNTRY’S LARGEST COLLECTION OF THESE POPULAR IMAGES AND THESE GO WAY BACK BETWEEN 1840 AND 1890 CURRIER AND IVES PUBLISHED MORE THAN SEVEN THOUSAND PRINTS. THE EXHIBIT IS ORGANIZED INTO EIGHT DIFFERENT THINGS INCLUDING URBAN EXPERIENCES SPORTING LIFE THE CIVIL WAR AND MORE THERE’S A MOBILE TOUR THAT WILL GUIDE YOU THROUGH THE EXHIBIT AS WELL. AWESOME. THAT SOUNDS LIKE SOMETHING DEFINITELY FUN TO CHECK OUT EDUCATIONAL AS WELL AND HEAD ON OVER TO BENSON. YES BENSON FIRST FRIDAY IS TODAY. THE MONTHLY EVENT FEATURES A VARIETY OF ART FORMS INCLUDING STREET FOOD ART SPOKEN WORD FASHION MUSIC AND MORE MUCH OF THE CONTENT HAS HAD TO MOVE ONLINE, BUT THEY’RE STILL IN PERSON EXPERIENCES LIKE FEATURED ARTIST AT JAKE CIGARS. AND A GALLERY EVENT AT CITY LIGHT ARTS PROJECT IF YOU BECOME A BENSON FIRST, FRIDAY MEMBER YOU WILL ALSO RECEIVE DISCOUNTS AT LOCAL SPOT EVERY FIRST FRIDAY LIKE A FREE SCOOP OF ICE CREAM AT 10:00. WALLY’S AND HALF OFF DRAFT BEER AT BENSON BREWERY ICE CREAM AND BEER YOU CAN’T BEAT THAT. IT’S A GREAT WAY TO SUPPORT LOCAL BUSINESSES AS WELL. THERE’S ALSO BEHIND THE GLASS RINKSIDE VIEWING MORELAND ICE. PLEX HAS AN NHL SIZED AND AN OLYMPIC SIZED ICE SHEET 8 AIDS ARE AVAILABLE FOR THE KIDDOS, BUT TRUTHFULLY I WOULD NEED ONE NOW. ALSO MOTO MCLEAN WHICH IS OFFERING A SPECIAL FAMILY SKATE SESSION ON SUNDAY, BUT I WILL TELL YOU THEY DO REQUIRE RESERVATIONS. Revisiting America: The Prints of Currier & Ives

  • Currier & Ives was the largest printmaking company in nineteenth-century America
    • Produced hand-colored lithographs that were used to produce inexpensive and popular prints that were in the homes of tens of thousands of Americans in the nineteenth century
    • A lithograph is an an original work of art that is printed and reproduced on a metal plate or flat stone
    • In 2016, ConAgra Foods, Inc. donated nearly 600 Currier & Ives lithographs to Joslyn Art Museum
