Hundreds of utility contractors are waiting at strategic locations across the state, waiting to be called into action to fix damage expected during the nor’easter.Eversource officials said Tuesday that utility crews are being put on standby to respond to any damage that may be caused by the snow and wind. Company officials said the “hundreds of crews” are coming from Canada, Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Connecticut, Pennsylvania and Indiana.Similarly, National Grid has hired contractors standing by, including dozens of bucket trucks seen massed outside a Stoughton hotel. Representatives from both companies say they expect snow and wind to cause tree limbs to fall during the storm, pulling down power lines.
