My first trip to Maranello was on one of the hottest days in modern Italian history. I was playing around with the yet-to-be-unveiled 488, driving it on Ferrari’s walled-off test track under a thick veil of secrecy. In my long career as a journalist and writer, it remains one of my most memorable moments—a glimpse behind the curtain of the most passionate, beguiling, and magical car brand.
Ferrari is as much a part of Italian culture as Renaissance art and the perfect ragu. This is, without a doubt, my favorite corner of the world. Passion, speed, artistry, and ingenuity are the ingredients that form Italian car culture. When we were discussing ways we could expand the Road & Track brand, we knew there was much to experience overseas by exploring the foundation of various car cultures. And what better place to begin our international adventures than Northern Italy?
I am excited to invite you to join me and other like-minded enthusiasts on this adventure, as we trace the history of legendary innovators, go behind the scenes at their studios, and meet with contemporary designers. We’ll have the opportunity to savor the finest foods of Italy as we taste our way through Modena, Zibello, and Monza (to name a few destinations). We’ll get to capture Italian history through once-in-a-lifetime experiences like attending the Monza Grand Prix. And much more.

Here’s a breakdown of what you can expect when joining Maranello a Monza:
We’ll arrive in Bologna and take a scenic drive over to the town of Modena—rich in medieval history and most known for its automotive heritage. Upon arrival, we’ll check in at Hotel Canalgrande, located at the center of town, just a five-minute walk from the iconic cathedral. Once settled, our group will join together for a welcome reception, followed by dinner—kicking off a week of epic adventures.
Our second day will begin in Maranello, with a private tour of the Ferrari Museum to view some of the world’s most powerful road machines. We’ll take a private look inside the Ferrari factory to see where the cars are designed, built, and tested. We’ll end the day at Enzo Ferrari’s birthplace to explore his career and the root of his passion for speed.
Day three is dedicated to Pagani, Maserati, and Lamborghini. We’ll begin at the Pagani factory to observe their exclusive handcrafted supercars, and then we’ll hit the Lamborghini factory and museum where we’ll get an up-close viewing of the first and last Countach ever made. After our two tours, our group will head back to Modena for a private tour at the completely renovated Maserati production facility. The day will end with a traditional Italian feast at a local hotspot known to serve Modena’s finest balsamic vinegar.
We’ll navigate through additional landmarks dedicated to the three Italian automakers (Pagani, Maserati, and Lamborghini) and end day four in Dosso to explore Ferruccio Lamborghini’s personal collection of cars and tractors.
Day five will be spent at the beautifully restored castle of Antica Corte Pallavicina, where we’ll indulge in cured meats and local cheeses—a classic Italian aperitivo before a rustic sit-down lunch. The afternoon will begin at the Zagato Design Studio and conclude in the fashion capital of Milan for late-day leisure.
The sixth day of our Italian adventure will consist of a private showing of the restored collection of vintage cars amassed by architect and entrepreneur Corrado Lopresto. We’ll also admire the fine collection of Alfa Romeos, historical automotive artifacts, and more at the Museo Fratelli Cozzi.
On our final day, we will have the opportunity to experience the thrill of the Italian Grand Prix in the home of fast cars, La Pista Magica. We’ll spend the day living the F1 dream as we join the Scuderia Ferrari grandstands for a day filled with terrific racing. We’ll return to Milan for our final evening together and enjoy a festive farewell dinner.
