The high street brands and UK companies offering excellent discounts for key workers

Our key workers have emerged as national heroes since the lockdown began back in March, and continue to work tirelessly and selflessly as the UK is settling in second lockdown. So, it’s only right they should be rewarded, and a host of high street brands are offering discounts and great savings on their products.

That’s right, a brands across the UK have shown their appreciation for the key workers, who have continued to work tirelessly through the COVID-19 pandemic, by offering them discounts to make their money go further.

So, whether you want to tuck into discounted food and drinks at Nando’s and Starbucks, or treat yourself to some new money-off clothes at the likes of Asos or Dorothy Perkins, now you can do it guilt-free.

With many high street shops reopening their doors this week, the personal finance experts at Money.co.uk have put together a list of the bricks and mortar shops who will be offering key worker discounts long after the pandemic, as part of their Key Worker Nation 2020 Report. Happy shopping!

1.Dorothy Perkins

Fix up, look sharp! Women’s fashion retailer, Dorothy Perkins has always offered NHS staff 10% off on any full priced items in store. With the retailer reopening to customers this week, it’s the perfect opportunity for NHS staff to pop in store and treat themselves to some new winter must-haves. Dorothy Perkins asks NHS workers to simply present a wage slip or your NHS ID card to receive the discount in store.

2. Nando’s

Everybody’s favourite home of peri-peri chicken, Nando’s (even Prince Harry’s a fan) has always offered a 20% discount to Police, Fire Services, Ambulance Service and NHS staff. The discount also applies to takeaway orders while restaurants remain closed. To get this discount healthcare workers simply need to show their valid photo ID card before payment. 3. Waterstones

Bookworms, rejoice! The leading high street bookshop is offering NHS staff 15% off. Although Waterstones will be joining other retailers on December 2nd and reopening their stores, this discount only applies for purchases made online – meaning NHS staff can skip the queues and still enjoy the perks.

4. Asos

A bit of retail therapy will always put a smile on your face. The online fashion and beauty retailer Asos has always offered NHS staff a 10% discount online as part of the Blue Light Card scheme.

However, it’s recently increased their discount to 20% for a limited time as a way to say thank you to those working on the frontline. Some supermarket workers can also access discounts at Asos through their employee rewards scheme but the percentage you can save depends on the coupon issued at the time.

5. Hobbycraft

In a bid to boost our mood, we’ve turned into a nation of crafters since lockdown. Arts and crafts superstore Hobbycraft is offering a 15% discount for Health Service staff, family and friends to save when they purchase online. All you have to do is join their Hobbycraft Club and then fill in your work ID details to access the discount. And then get crafting!

6. Superdrug

Need some beauty essentials? Superdrug offers NHS staff a 10% discount when purchasing anything in store. You’ll need to use a Superdrug Health & Beauty card, which you can sign up to by providing a few basic pieces of information including your name, age and address.

7. Dr. Martens

As a token of their gratitude, footwear retailer Dr. Martens are offering 20% off any full price products to all NHS, Emergency Services and Armed Forces. Essential workers will need to register to be part of the Blue Light Card community and you can find out more information on this here.

8. H. Samuel

Who doesn’t love a new piece of jewellery? H. Samuel is offering NHS workers 15% discount on watches, jewellery, gifts and engagement rings. The discount is only valid when purchasing full price items only. They are also offering free delivery on orders from £49 to £199.99. Go on, you deserve it.

9. Starbucks

There’s nothing quite a good as morning cuppa… Except for a free one, of course. While Starbucks isn’t opening its doors just yet, NHS workers can still claim a free tall beverage from the drive-thru. NHS staff will need to show their ID or badge when ordering a drink of their choice. This offer is also available at petrol stations too, but it is worth checking the store locator to see if your local branch is open before heading out.

10. Shorefields Holiday

Shorefield Holidays, with holiday parks in Dorset, Hampshire and the New Forest, are offering free accommodation and a safe place to stay for all NHS workers and carers during lockdown 2.0.

And when we are able to travel again, Shorefield is also offering a Blue Light Discount, allowing emergency services, armed forces and blue light staff to save 15% on holidays – from luxury hot tub retreats, to camping and touring pitches – as part of a continued effort to support those workers where possible.

11. Nicola Sexton shoes

It’s officially very cold now, so it’s time to dig out your winter boots – or treat yourself to a new pair. British-owned footwear company Nicola Sexton has been offering a 20% discount to NHS workers since the start of lockdown, and will be continuing to do so over the Christmas period.

12. Movement for Modern Life

Digital yoga platform Movement for Modern Life has launched their Helping Hand scheme, offering 70% off memberships for over 70s and vulnerable people, and NHS staff a free 10-week subscription as a thank you for all the amazing work they’re doing for us.

13. Morrisons

A a gesture of their appreciation, all teachers and staff at schools, nurseries and colleges can claim a 10% discount on their shopping in Morrisons stores nationwide, and the supermarket is also offering 10% off to NHS staff.

Primary, secondary, private and special educational school teachers can all claim the discount, as well as all teaching assistants, catering staff, dinner ladies, caretakers, cleaners and school office staff and those working at private nurseries and colleges.

The special discount will last until after Christmas, and NHS workers, teachers and school staff can claim the 10% discount on their groceries by presenting their school photo ID card at the till in any of Morrisons 498 stores.

14. Pets at Home

Pets at Home are continuing their 10% NHS worker discount until January 31st 2021 (which may be extended depending on the situation in the New Year). This includes money off on food, toys, bedding, medication, accessories and pets.

15. Emma mattresses

Sleeping well is essential for our mental wellbeing – and NHS workers probably aren’t getting nearly enough hours of sleep amid the pandemic. Emma is here to help by offering 35% off all of its products to key workers until December 31st.

17. Royce Lingerie

Royce’s range of wire-free, comfortable, supportive bras are just the thing for anyone working long, hard hours, so they’re showing their gratitude to frontline workers by offering NHS workers 15% off anything in their online store. See their new collection on their website.

18. Diamond Factory

Hatton Garden jewellers, Diamonds Factory are offering a 10% discount for NHS workers online now. See their products on their website.

Graham & Brown is offering a 25% discount across all paint and wallpaper to NHS, teachers, and carers in social care to say thank you for their tireless work throughout the ongoing pandemic.

20. Dr. PAWPAW

Much like the first lockdown in March, this cold weather and constant hand-washing is making our hands dry and cracked again. Dr.PAWPAW is here to help remedy that for frontline workers, as they are giving away 2x free hand creams for all frontline workers on their website. Frontline workers will have to provide the postage.

21. Fanfare Label

British ethical fashion brand – creating their collection using clothing and textile waste that would have gone to landfill – are offering a 20% discount to NHS workers. Email the brand with an official NHS email address and workers can get money off until January 30, 2021.

ProCook offer a discount all year round for members of the Blue Light card scheme – which is 10% off any orders over £50. They can access the discount via the Blue Light website.

23. David Watson

Silk British silk brand David Watson are offering 40% discount to key Workers using the code KEY. Everything is sent in a gift box that fits through a letterbox, so their masks, scarves and other accessories make great gifts that can be sent to friends and family this Christmas.

24. Ballet Fusion
