Crawford returns to ring in title defense against Brook

FILE – In this Aug. 16, 2014, file photo, Kell Brook, right, hits Shawn Porter during their IBF welterweight title boxing bout in Carson, Calif. Brook, who fought at 160 pounds when he was stopped in the fifth round by Golovkin in 2016, said he started losing weight early for this fight so he wouldn’t have to starve himself late. But there are questions not only about him coming down in weight but also the wear and tear he’s had in his years in the ring. At the age of 34, it could be his final hurrah if he can’t come up with the performance of a lifetime against Crawford.

Terence Crawford has long held a spot in the mythical pound-for-pound ratings that boxing people like to argue about when all the fights are done for the day.

What Crawford is still waiting on is

St. Pete hosts exciting title race, drivers’ hopes to end 2020 strong

IndyCar championship contenders Josef Newgarden and Scott Dixon discuss their qualifying struggles

Indianapolis Star

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – When you look past a St. Petersburg finale in October, attending by a maximum of 20,000 fans, Sunday’s 2020 IndyCar season running to completion should feel relatively normal. The combination of Will Power sitting on pole for the year’s first street course of the year, something the Team Penske driver has achieved eight times previously at the bayside course, and Josef Newgarden and Scott Dixon dueling down to the wire for a championship feels familiar to cap a seven-month stretch that has been anything but.

And it should lead to an action-packed 100 laps of racing Sunday with storylines galore, with four of Saturday’s Fast Six qualifiers still looking for their first 2020 victory, an Australian star-powered rookie starting in the second-to-last row and the two title contenders starting mid-pack where

Lapel’s Macy Beeson wins title

CARMEL – The waiting was the hardest part. At that point, the rest was out of her control.

Macy Beeson finished her round Saturday afternoon as the leader of the IHSAA girls golf state finals at Carmel’s Prairie View Golf Club. But she didn’t know if it would hold. There were plenty of players with plenty of golf left to play. So she waited for two hours. She spent some time on the putting green, staying warm in case she had to compete in a playoff. She talked with her teammates, talked with her family, sat on her mom’s lap and willed time to go faster.

She didn’t keep tabs on what was happening on the course.

“If I keep track, it’s going to make me nervous,” the Lapel sophomore said.

Piers Morgan has called for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to have their titles taken off them after Meghan Markle commented on the 2020 US election.

Markle encouraged people to ensure they were registered to vote during an appearance at the online When All Women Vote event.

While the Duchess did not endorse a specific candidate, she claimed those who did not vote would be “complicit”, warning “we all know what’s at stake this year”.

Of course, you can’t have a sandwich relay without a debate about whether a hot dog is a sandwich. Chef Elena Besser
