Pamplin Media Group – County looking for input on transit additions

An online survey about country-wide transit issues is available, deadline for offering thoughts is Oct. 15

If you live in, work in or travel through Clackamas County, you’re invited to let the county know if several proposed transit additions or expansions would be useful for you.

An online survey is available through Oct. 15 right here: https://openhouse.jla.us.com/cctdp

Clackamas County transportation planners have been taking a first-ever look at countywide transit needs through creation of a Transit Development Plan. With seven organizations that provide local bus service in Clackamas County, there are still large areas of the county with no transit service, and existing service varies in frequency, access and connectivity.

Through an online survey in June, more than 400 community members shared their perspective on transit needs in Clackamas County. Using that information and data from technical studies, the project team developed several specific proposals for improving transit services.

In the current online survey, residents can learn more about the possible improvements and let the team know whether the proposals would be helpful.

The survey will be open through Thursday, Oct. 15. Survey participants will be entered into a drawing for a $25 gift card to a grocery store of their choosing.

This first-ever countywide transit development plan is being developed by the Clackamas County Department of Transportation & Development working with the community, transit providers and partners.

The final plan, expected by January 2021, will be used to guide transit investments in the county.

The plan is intended to help guide future investments in transit in the county in order to:

• Improve service in rural and suburban locations.

• Make fares and timing easier when riders transfer from one transit carrier to another.

• Bring new options such as shuttles, express services, vanpools, micro-transit, and transportation network companies such as Uber and Lyft.

• Make driving easier on state highways by reducing traffic from single-occupancy vehicles.

• Help support climate recovery.
