What discounts on kids’ toys and gifts can we expect?

During last year’s Black Friday sale, we saw impressive discounts on kids’ tech, including the Amazon fire kids tablets, as well as big toy brands such as Lego, VTech and Playmobil and gaming consoles like the Nintendo Switch, Xbox One X and PS4.

Star Wars and Harry Potter Lego sets are predicted to be big favourites for Christmas this year, while wooden toys have also risen in popularity, in a move to more sustainable gifts for children.

John Lewis & Partners released its top 10 toy predictions last month, which included Lego’s city rocket assembly and transport space port, a Leckford’s wooden doll house, a fold-up scooter and one of our favourites, the Tonies toniebox starter set. This nifty wifi enabled speaker allows you to download audio books and music to the cube via fun figurines called tonies.

Here at IndyBest, we’ve already tested the toniebox in our best toys of 2019 gift guide, where you can find more inspiration for Christmas and Black Friday shopping. It was our best buy, in fact.

How to get the best Cyber Monday deals

The key to making the most of this annual event is not getting sucked into discounts that look too good to be true. Instead, come up with a list of products you’re actually interested in before the big day. That way, you won’t buy lots of pointless things – which is easy to do given the endless amount of toys available both online and in stores.

After you’ve finalised your wishlist, be sure to shop around for the best price, and make sure you know the actual RRP of the product, so you’ll know a good deal when you see one.

To find the original price of a product, use PriceSpy or CamelCamelCamel – the latter is especially useful for Amazon.

Finally, be sure to check back in closer to Black Friday where the IndyBest team will be hand-selecting the best deals from a range of retailers. If you can’t wait that long, read our other Black Friday guides right now.
