New Snohomish County online guide aims to boost businesses

EVERETT — Looking for a way to shop small, shop local and shop Snohomish County?

County officials have launched the Support SnoCo Campaign to promote local commerce and offer a guide to area businesses.

The online hub, SupportSnoCo.com, aims to introduce shoppers to businesses across the county through an extensive online directory. A key feature will allow users to create an itinerary to keep track of they places they want to visit, county officials said.

“We want this holiday season to bring a bit of cheer to our neighborhood businesses by encouraging people to shop locally and safely,” County Executive Dave Somers said in a statement.

“The Support SnoCo Campaign provides residents, business owners, and visitors tools to help them make the most of the shopping season,” Somers said. “In these challenging times, it is more important than ever that we support one another.”

The website also offers help to business owners seeking to move their business online or adapt to current COVID-19 health restrictions.

The program is the brainchild of the Snohomish County Economic and Workforce Recovery Task Force and is funded by a federal CARES Act grant. It was developed by a coalition of local chambers of commerce and cities and towns.

“The Support SnoCo online hub will strengthen the economic health of Snohomish County by highlighting the fantastic shopping, food, and outdoor amenities that the County has to offer,” said Snohomish County Councilmember and task force advisory group chair Nate Nehring.

“We encourage residents and visitors alike to support their neighbors this holiday season by buying locally. Together, we will weather these difficulties and emerge as a stronger community.”

Leah McNatt, the owner of Uppercase Bookshop in Snohomish, hopes the program will help boost business.

“The new Support SnoCo online hub has so many features that will help us survive and hopefully Snohomish County thrive, giving visitors and residents of Snohomish this great place online to learn more about the variety of business and recreation in our county,” McNatt said.“If we join in this effort to support one another, we’ll bounce back faster and come through these challenges even stronger than before.”
