How to Get Poipole – Pokemon Sword and Shield Wiki Guide

Last Edited:

Poipole is an optional Legendary Pokemon available in Pokemon Sword and Shield’s Crown Tundra DLC. This page covers how to catch Poipole and how to evolve it.

In order to obtain Poipole, you’ll need to have completed the Crown Tundra’s story. This means completing Legendary Clue 1, Legendary Clue 2, and Legendary Clue 3 given to you by Peony in Freezington.

Step 2: Catch 5 Ultra Beasts

Once you’ve completed these clues, interact with the sparkling object on the ground of Peony’s hut in Freezington to obtain the Legendary Clue?. The game will instruct you to return it to Peony who can be found at theMax Lair, which will unlock Ultra Beasts to catch during Dynamax Adventures.

At this point, you need to complete Dynamax Adventures until you catch 5 Ultra Beasts and Necrozma, for a total of six Pokemon. You can see the list of Ultra Beasts on the Legendary Clue? page. Catching Necrozma will actually complete this quest.

As with all Dynamax Adventures, these can be played solo with AI teammates or online with friends.

Make sure to speak with Peonia after each Dynamax Adventure, she may be able to offer you a guaranteed adventure with an Ultra Beast.

Step 3: Interact With Poipole

After you’ve caught Necrozma and five Ultra Beast, Poipole will spawn in the Max Lair once you return from the Dynamax Adventure. Interact with it to cause the scientist to speak to you. It turns out she’s been looking after a Poipole this whole time while overseeing the Dynamax Adventures. She will ask if you can take Poipole off her hands. Accept her offer and Poipole is yours.

How to Evolve Poipole

Poipole is Level 20 when acquired, and will evolve into Naganadel after learning the move Dragon Pulse and leveling up one level once the move is learned.

To learn Dragon Pulse, take Poipole to the Pokemon Center and speak with the man on the left – you can have it remember the move Dragon Pulse this way! When it levels up after this, it will evolve into Naganedel.
