Staying in a hotel in Agra, the land of Taj Mahal, is one option but what do you do when you are on a fixed budget or have simply run out of options?! Homestays are the latest concept wherein hosts offer some part of their homes or their other properties for rental for some days to tourists and visitors at a fixed amount. This is the latest option people are swearing by as gives the homely vibes and since many even provide a kitchen for you to prepare your own food at your own comfort. 

Here is a list of some homestays which charge less than Rs 1500 approximately, something hard to find in Agra where there is so much tourist. However, rates are subject to change so it best to call up the owners for the latest information.

This blue home can accommodate up to 3 people for a comfortable stay. They have provided 1 bedroom, a bathroom and the room is located on the first floor of the house. According to the host, there is ample lounging area and you can see the sunrise from your bed. You park safely within the compound and even get home-cooked meals if you make a request. The only catch is that kids below the age of 8 are not allowed. You cannot bring pets and smoking as well is not allowed here.

This lovely homestay is just 15 minutes walk from the Taj Mahal. Even the railway station is just 3 kms away. So the location is just perfect. Numerous restaurants and cafes are all walking distance so you are in the middle of it all. You have access to the internet 24*7 and also ask for a pick-up service, lunch, dinner and laundry at a small price. The pick-up service will cost you Rs 80 one-way. Lunch costs Rs 240 per night while dinner will be charged for Rs 280 per night per person. If you want to wash your clothes in the host’s washing machine then it would be Rs 400 per load. 

The place is wheelchair accessible, has parking, pet-friendly but for smoking, it is best to ask the host as it is probably allowed only outside the room but it is best to check.

This place is a hotel but more like a homestay. The building has 50 guestrooms with Taj Mahal just 3.9 kms away. Their stay includes a free breakfast and lockers. The railway station is a 14 minute drive from here while the airport is 23 minutes away on the road. It is very reasonable for those who are more travelling and sightseeing rather than luxurious accommodation and are just seeking a clean place to spend the night after shopping etc.

This one is amongst the most affordable homestays with good reviews online so far. The host, Mr. U.B.Singh has 25 years of experience working in Hotel ITC at Managerial Level in different departments as claimed by the website named homestays. There are no issues with parking and smoking is subject to the area where you are smoking so do ask the host beforehand. From here, the Taj Mahal is a ten-minute drive and so is the market.
