Milwaukee’s Saint Kate-The Arts Hotel ranked the highest, coming in at No. 6 on the list of the top 20 hotels in the Midwest. The Pfister Hotel in Milwaukee (No. 8), the Delafield Hotel in Delafield (No. 17) and the Edgewater in Madison (No. 20) also made that list.
The American Club in Kohler made the magazine’s list of the top 20 destination spa resorts in the U.S., ranking 11th. Big Cedar Lodge in Ridgedale, Missouri, was the only other Midwestern resort to make that list, coming in at No. 9.
The Grand Geneva Resort & Spa made the magazine’s list of the top 40 resorts in the Midwest and the West. The resort ranked 20th on that list. The Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island in Michigan was the only other Midwestern resort to make the list, coming in at No. 16.
For the fourth year in a row, Chicago topped the magazine’s list of the best big cities in the U.S. The city’s Virgin Hotels and Acme Hotel Company both made the list of the 50 best hotels in the world (ranking 19th and 36th respectively).
Votes from 715,000 readers determined the winners of the 33rd annual awards, which were announced online on Oct. 6 and in the November 2020 issue of the magazine.
